Power Measurement Provides ION System to GRDA

January 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Oklahoma power wholesaler Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) has upgraded its electric metering system with an enterprise energy management system from Power Measurement Ltd. (Victoria, BC, Canada). With generation assets that include three hydroelectric plants and a coal-fired thermal generation facility, GRDA delivers wholesale electricity to half a million customers across 24 counties.

The new ION® energy management system for the GRDA replaces an assortment of older metering equipment with a network of 250 intelligent energy meters and software.

The GRDA’s network of ION 8500, ION 8300 and ION 7330 meters communicate billing and operational information to the main user interface: a computer system running the ION Enterprise™ software. The software serves as a central hub where staff can monitor and control power quality, reliability and energy consumption across the entire facility.
