O2Micro International Ltd. (George Town, Grand Cayman), a supplier of power management and security ICs to mobile computer and communications manufacturers, was granted 21 claims under United States Patent Number 6,954,804 for its audio controller invention; a continuation of United States Patent Number 6,675,233 issued January 2004. The patented audio controller invention is for use in portable electronic devices, such as notebook computers. It is adapted to access, reproduce, store, and play audio content from stored digital audio data when the device is powered off, which results in minimal notebook power consumption and significantly extended audio play time.
