Micrel Announces Leadership Changes Following Retirement of Vice President, High-Bandwidth Division

Micrel, Inc. announced that Mr. Thomas S. Wong, Vice President of the High Bandwidth Division, will be retiring effective August 3, 2012.

Mr. Wong joined Micrel in 1998 with the Company’s acquisition of Synergy Semiconductor Corporation where he was a co-founder and held several executive positions. "Tom has made significant contributions to the industry and to Micrel," Mr. Ray Zinn, President and CEO, noted. "Tom was a pioneer in the High Bandwidth business with a career spanning more than 35 years. In addition, he has served as one of Micrel’s key executives for the past 14 years. We wish him well in his retirement."

Effective immediately Mr. Rami Kanama, Vice President of Clock and Timing Products, will take over responsibility for the High Bandwidth Division reporting to Mr. Mansour Izadinia, Senior Vice President. Micrel’s High Bandwidth organization develops High Performance Clock and Timing Solutions as well as Data Management and Fiber Optics products for High Speed Communications markets. The Company recently bolstered its market position in the Clock and Timing market with the acquisition of PhaseLink™ Company Limited in April, 2012.

Mr. Izadinia joined Micrel in January 2011 as the Senior Vice President overseeing the Analog Division after nearly 27 years of diverse industry experience at IDT, Maxim and National Semiconductor Corporation.His role is now expanded to overseeing both of Micrel’s Analog and High-Bandwidth Divisions.

"He has shaped Micrel’s new product development direction while building a metric-driven organization. In addition, Rami has been instrumental in expanding High Bandwidth division’s market reach and integrating the PhaseLink team and technology into the Micrel family. I am confident that under the new leadership we have put in place for our High Bandwidth group, we will see even more vigorous growth for these key products.We look forward to more contributions from both executives," concluded Ray Zinn.

Mr. Kanama has more than 18 years of experience in high tech management. He has served as Micrel’s Director of High Bandwidth Marketing since 2008, and as Vice President of Clock and Timing Products since April 2012, with responsibility for the division’s business development, strategic and product marketing. During this period, Mr. Kanama reorganized the group to be more market and customer focused, launched key Fiber Optics products and created a new clock and timing business unit by introducing the industry’s best performance clock synthesizers (Clockworks™). He also expanded the business into oscillators and programmable clocks through the acquisition of Phaselink Corporation. Mr. Kanama is also the President of Micrel’s PhaseLink subsidiary.
