MGE UPS, FuelCellStore.com Get NanoSignal Order

January 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

MGE UPS Systems Inc. (Costa Mesa, CA), a leader in high-availability power solutions to the industrial, telecom and IT markets, as well as a worldwide distributor and service provider for Ballard Power System Inc.'s AirGen® fuel cell generators, announced that NanoSignal Corp. has agreed to purchase AirGen products through MGE’s e‑commerce partner, FuelCellStore.com.

The AirGen fuel cell generator will provide continuous backup power for NanoSignal’s new SLICES image processing workstations used with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. The 1kW AirGen models will be beta-tested at an initial MRI site operated by Desert Radiology (Las Vegas, NV). Upon successful completion of testing, NanoSignal will include an AirGen system with each new SLICES workstation. MGE will provide service for all AirGen units.

"Ballard’s AirGen fuel cell generator is the perfect solution for MRI applications because of its power conditioning and hours of backup time," stated MGE UPS Director of Marketing Jack Pouchet. "Due to the precise nature of MRI scans, these systems are very susceptible to even the slightest blip in power. The AirGen provides both line filtering and continuous power in a very compact and portable design. We anticipate many more orders from the medical industry for this innovative power solution."
