MCG Surge Protection Receives SBA Excellence Award

June 12, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

MCG Surge Protection (Deer Park, NY) announced that it was recently awarded the Administrator's Award of Excellence from the Small Business Administration (SBA) for its work on a critical, time-sensitive requirement for the US Army.

MCG had less than four weeks to design a custom surge-protection prototype for application between the Army's GPS link and the computer. The company worked overtime to satisfy the order and was able to ship 688 data line protector units in time for a crucial military exercise. The units had to divert transients in nanoseconds, needed to have hardwired connections on both ends, and needed to be housed in a waterproof enclosure compatible with the military's application. Additionally, there have been zero reported failures in the MCG protectors or the protected equipment to date.
