Matsushita's Wuxi Plant Begins Volume Production

Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. (Japan), a subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. (Japan), has begun mass production of cadmium, hydrogen and lithium-ion secondary batteries in its Wuxi facility in Jiangsu, China, with an annual production capacity of 120 million units. The company expects a bulk of its capacity to be exported to foreign markets such as the US and Japan.

According to the company, it has furnished the facility with production equipment based on international standards with the secondary battery production line from Matsushita's headquarters. Matsushita Battery claims that its secondary batteries are smaller, lighter and have a higher power capacity compared to other batteries, and are suitable for power supplies in mobile phones, laptops and other IT products.
