Invensys Power Systems to Consolidate Its Secure Power Group

April 06, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Invensys Power Systems (Raleigh, NC) announced a consolidation plan for its Secure Power Group, which is comprised of Powerware, Best Power and IPM. The consolidation plan will result in an overall workforce reduction of about 270 employees or 6 percent of the company's worldwide workforce.

As part of the effort, Invensys will transfer current manufacturing operations at the Best Power facility in Necedah, WI, to larger, more integrated facilities in Raleigh, NC, and Tijuana, Mexico.

The consolidation initiatives will combine manufacturing operation, streamline duplicate functions and management staff, and are expected to improve operational efficiency. The manufacturing transfer from Necedah will begin immediately with the projected date of completion scheduled for October 2000. This will be a phased process and many employees will not be affected until the fall of 2000.

All existing engineering, sales, marketing, service and other support functions currently located in Necedah will remain in place. Affected employees will have the option to apply for open positions in their specific areas of expertise at other company locations. Those who leave the company will have compensation packages that include severance payments, health and dental premiums, employee assistance programs, and outplacement services.
