EVI Begins Commercialization Program

October 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Energy Visions Inc. (EVI, Ottawa, Ontario) announced that it has successfully concluded laboratory tests that confirm the significantly enhanced performance of its proprietary direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) technology.

EVI is on schedule to produce a first-generation commercial prototype and expects to have a demonstration unit ready by mid-year 2002. EVI is finalizing an agreement with a battery and equipment company for full-scale manufacturing trials starting at the end of December 2001. This agreement will include the completion of EVI's automated pilot line and will enable the manufacturing of AA nickel-zinc cells. EVI is preparing to take orders for test quantities of nickel-zinc cells for delivery early next year and is in negotiation with a large potential customer for custom-made battery packs.

Wayne Hartford, EVI president, stated, "We are very pleased with all of the new developments in the company as we proceed towards the commercialization of the company's technologies."
