Dynetek to Supply Hydrogen System for Ford HEV

January 20, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Dynetek Industries Ltd. (Calgary, Canada) announced that it will supply its 10,000psi hydrogen storage system for Ford Motor Co.'s (Dearborn, MI) hybrid Model U, which is intended to be the Model T of the 21st century. The Model U combines a hydrogen-powered, supercharged, intercooled, 2.3-litre, four-cylinder, internal combustion engine (ICE) and a hybrid-electric transmission.

"We are excited to partner with Ford on this hydrogen ICE project," said Robb Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Dynetek. "Dynetek has worked very closely with Ford on a number of fuel cell vehicles that are currently being demonstrated around the globe. The hydrogen ICE project is a logical step in the progression to solving the hydrogen infrastructure issues prior to the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles."
