DayStar Technologies Achieves NYSERDA Award Milestone

June 28, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

DayStar Technologies Inc. (Halfmoon, NY), a developer of photovoltaic products, announced receipt of a $250,000 payment from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for completing facility development, meeting equipment installation requirements, and satisfying New York State regulatory approvals for phase one and phase two of Program Opportunity Notice (PON) 827, previously awarded in January 2005.

The PON award covered production floor build-out, manufacturing equipment installation and other manufacturing development-related items. The work was completed in the spring of 2005. Contributing to DayStar's ongoing incremental manufacturing development effort, the award accelerated implementation of the Gen II production line tooling, and will advance the company's manufacturing roadmap toward Gen III production.

DayStar Engineering Vice President Steve Aragon commented, "NYSERDA has been very supportive of our move here to the Halfmoon, NY, facility. This award phase demonstrates the remarkable progress we have made in transitioning our factory from California, and has helped us regain our earlier momentum with our GEN-II production line implementation. We look forward to completing the remaining phases of this manufacturing development program in the coming months as we scale our production towards product deliveries for our first customers."
