Darnell and EDN to Launch Power Webcast Series

November 17, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

The Darnell Group Inc. (Corona, CA) announced the expansion of its relationship with EDN Magazine to include a series of power webcasts. The first EDN/Darnell Power Webcast will launch December 12, 2003, and will be available on-line for 90 days. This will be the first in a quarterly series of EDN/Darnell Power Webcasts and will provide an update to the recent EDN Power Technology Supplement, "Power for Portable Electronics."

"The Booming Portable Market" webcast will not merely rehash the materials from the print supplement, but will be more applications-oriented and quantify market trends with numerous specific examples of portable equipment and devices along with discussions of how they are powered. It will also include an update on developments in portable power technologies and look into possible future developments such as fuel cells.

"EDN’s commitment to power electronics, coupled with the desire to further expand its power initiatives, required an alliance with the most valued and respected power specialist — Darnell Group — who now functions as EDN’s Power Technology Series editorial team, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, based on their own company initiatives," stated Vice President and Publishing Director of EDN Worldwide Stephen Moylan.

In addition to providing the content for the EDN Power Technology Supplements and now the Power Technology Webcasts, Darnell Group is the developer of the software engine and interfaces found on the EDN Power Technology CD Series.

EDN’s Power Technology Series for 2004 will present the broadest power editorial available to today’s designers. Coverage will include the latest advances in system architectures, power converters, power components, power management and energy storage devices for portable, communications and other OEM electronic applications. The expanded coverage will include new product developments and share more trends and analysis, as well as spotlighting relevant case studies.

"We are excited about this opportunity to expand on our successful relationship with EDN Magazine. Adding an on-line component to the EDN Power Technology Series will enable Darnell’s analysts to expand our coverage of the latest developments in power," stated Darnell Group President Jeff Shepard.
