Cummins Power to Sell/Service Kawasaki Generators

December 15, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Cummins Power Generation (Minneapolis, MN) and Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas, a division of Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA (Irvine, CA), have signed a distribution agreement for Cummins to market, sell and service generator sets and power systems powered by Kawasaki gas turbines in the Americas. Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas is a manufacturer of small and mid-size gas turbine power systems from 200kW to 20MW employed in standby, peaking, base-load and combined heat and power (CHP) installations around the world.

The agreement delineates a multi-year alliance that will entail Cummins Power Generation marketing and selling Kawasaki gas turbine-powered generator sets ranging from 1.4MW to 7MW. The products will be marketed under a co-branded designation in the Americas. The two companies will share in certain marketing efforts related to materials and market development activities and may eventually expand geographical distribution.

"This distribution agreement with Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas will expand the range of power solutions that Cummins Power Generation can offer to its customers," stated Ron Moore, vice president and general manager, Cummins Power Generation. "We are very pleased to have formed this alliance with a turbine manufacturer that has a global reputation for making efficient, reliable and low-emissions products. We feel that with the addition of these products, Cummins Power Generation will be well positioned to better serve the peaking, distributed generation and CHP marketplace."
