Battery Packs for Toy Vehicles Recalled by JAKKS Pacific

JAKKS Pacific, Inc., working in voluntary cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a recall of Battery Packs (black-colored) for its Fly Wheels™ XPV Xtreme Performance Vehicle® toy. The company stated that consumers should stop using the recalled black Battery Packs immediately.

The black Battery Packs are used to power the XPV toy vehicles that shipped in 2006. Approximately 245,000 black Battery Packs were sold, and to date JAKKS Pacific™ has received 32 reports of the batteries malfunctioning, which have led to melting or catching fire while charging. Twenty-four were reports of property damage to flooring, seats or walls, and three reports were of minor burns to fingers.
