Axsem AG, a provider of low-power radio frequency (RF) devices, is now a part of ON Semiconductor. Axsem's portfolio of low-power sub 1GHz RF solutions (SIGFOX, enocean, wireless M-Bus, AT and proprietary) enhance ON Semiconductor's existing 2.4 GHz (ZigBee) and wired (MBus, KNX and HART) offerings. The Axsem portfolio enables worldwide wireless connectivity and supports advanced functionality in the Internet of Things (IoT), automatic meter reading, home automation, sensor networks and satellite communication markets.

Located in Switzerland, Axsem is focused on the development and manufacture of lowest-power high-performance VHF and UHF radio IC and microcontrollers as well as SoC. The company's product portfolio is targeted for a wide range of applications including automatic meter reading, security devices, entrance controls, medical and energy harvesting applications and compatible to many standard protocols.

"To further the growth of our industrial end-market, we have acquired Axsem, a provider of low-power radio frequency (RF) chips that enable wireless connectivity to support advanced functionality in the Internet of Things (IoT), automatic meter reading, home automation, sensor networks and satellite communication markets" said Bob Klosterboer, EVP, Application Products Group. "Adding Axsem's low-power RF chips, microcontroller technologies and system experience to our Applications Product Group is another step towards expanding the company's presence in the high-growth Industrial IoT segment."
