June 26, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

American Power Conversion Corp. (APC, West Kingston, RI) announced a new version of its PowerChute power-management software specifically designed for Windows XP users, the PowerChute Personal Edition v1.1, which is easy-to-use, system-shutdown software with sophisticated power-management functions suitable for home APC battery-backup users. The new version offers extensive configuration features and adds a new hibernation feature for Windows XP users.

"We have made it part of our mission to develop power-management software that is easy-to-install and use, and to give users the functionality they need depending on their application," said Rob Johnson, vice president of APC's Availability Enhancements Group. "APC's new PowerChute Personal Edition v1.1 was designed for compatibility with Windows XP, and now offers users the capability of automatically hibernating in the event of an extended power outage. This great new feature preserves users' work in progress and allows them to quickly resume work when the power returns."
