Alliant Energy Proposes 800MW of Power Generation in WI

April 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Alliant Energy (Madison, WI) unveiled a proposal to develop up to 800MW of new electrical power generation in Wisconsin over the next 10 years. The company announced it would seek to add 500MW of coal-fired and 100MW of natural gas-fired generation by 2006, and an additional 200MW of natural gas-fired generation by 2011.

“There is no question that building more generation in Wisconsin is absolutely vital if our state is to avoid the energy crisis currently plaguing California," says Bill Harvey, Alliant Energy's executive vice president of generation. “Through this proposal, Alliant Energy stands ready to do its part to help avoid a similar crisis here in Wisconsin."
