March 31, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (AE, Fort Collins, CO) announced that it has acquired Dressler HF Technik GmbH (Stolberg, Germany) for a potential total value of $20.0 million. AE has already paid $16.8 million for the privately held supplier of RF power devices for plasma-based applications. If Dressler achieves certain key business objectives over the next year, AE will pay a further $3.3 million.

"We are excited to be adding such a strong player to our European infrastructure," said Doug Schatz, chairman and CEO of AE. "I have known Ulrich Hansen, the founder and general manager of Dressler, for many years, and have been impressed with Dressler’s reputation for quality and service. We look forward to the important contributions Ulrich and his team will make."
