XP Power Adds New 480W DIN Rail Power Supply

April 29, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

XP Power announced the latest addition to the DNR range of DIN rail mounted, industrial ac-dc power supplies. The DNR480, a single output 480W model, offers universal input, accepting voltages in the range 90 – 264Vac single phase without the need for switch selection, or 340 – 575Vac three phase, depending on model. Both 24 and 48Vdc output variants have adjustable outputs from 22.5 to 28.5Vdc for the 24V model and 47.0 to 56.0 Vdc for the 48V model. Such broad range of adjustment allows the use of the power supply in different configurations. For applications requiring increased power, up to three units may be connected in parallel.

Another important feature of the DNR480 single phase series are the input and output connector options. Detachable screw terminals, which dramatically reduce MTTR (mean time to repair) in customer applications, as well as standard fixed screw terminals are both available.

The DNR480 is capable of operating over a wide range of temperature, from -13 to +158°F (-25 to + 70 °C). It operates at full power up to +131°F (+55°C) and then derates linearly to a maximum of 60% full power. The power supply is highly efficient, the 24Vdc unit rated at 89%, and 90% for the 48 Vdc variant. DC ON and DC LOW led status indicators are provided on both models. Additionally, DC OK status signal is available on the 24 Vdc model. A DC Standby option is also available. Single phase models measure 6.89 x 4.92 x 4.57 inches (175 x 125 x 116 mm), excluding the DIN mount and optional detachable connectors. Three phase versions are 5.91 x 4.88 x 4.41 inches (150 x 124 x 112 mm).

The DNR480 has EN60950 and UL508 safety approvals that cover IT and industrial equipment respectively. Typical applications include DIN rail mounted factory automation, light industrial, instrumentation and process control. A 960W DNR series is due to be released later this year.

The single phase DNR480 is priced at $198.25 for orders of 1,000 units.
