TDK Innoveta Inc. has expanded its quarter brick iQP-series product line, adding 12V/21A and 12V/25A output models suitable for ATCA and the other power hungry 12V intermediate bus architecture applications. It offers a 300W, wide input range (36-75V), tightly regulated 12V output bus solution. The converters are RoHS compliant.
The QP48021A120V-0Sx (12V/21A output) series employs an industry standard quarter brick pinout with a single pair of output pins for existing sockets. It has an efficiency of 92% at full load, for a power density greater than 152W per cubic inch. The iQP can provide 12V/18A (216W) at 50 °C, 200LFM, and 12V/15A(180W) at 70 °C, 200LFM without a heat sink.
The iQP48025A120V-0xx (12V/25A) series employs an industry standard Double-P structure for the output pins. It has an efficiency of 91.5% at full load, greater than 181W per cubic inch, can provide 12V/18V (216W) at 50°C, 200LFM. A unique insulated metal substrate (IMS) based design along with newly developed magnetic components enables high power density and high usable power.
The tightly regulated 12V output enables: 1) wide trim range capability of -20% to +10%, 2) less interaction with load converters reduces bus capacitors necessary, 3) a well-controlled and flexible start-up waveform to accommodate a variety of load types, such as point-of-load converters (POL), analog devices, and fans.
With these features, the module provides a versatile and robust solution for all typical intermediate bus loads. Standard features include remote sense, remote on/off, pre-biased start up, wide output voltage trim range, auto recovery circuits to fully protect against input over-voltage and under-voltage.
The converters have options for either latched or non-latched over-temperature, output over-current, and output over- voltage protection. Base plate temperature range is -40 °C to 116 °C. The safety approvals including UL60950 (US and Canada), VDE 0805, CB scheme (IEC950), CE Mark (EN60950).
