Pulse Intros C2139NL RF Balun Transformer

New Products Oct 14, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse Engineering Inc. (San Diego, CA), a manufacturer of passive electronic magnetic-based components, introduced its new patent-pending C2139NL, an RF balun transformer for radio frequency (RF) applications ranging from 5 MHz to 1,000 MHz bandwidth. The device's Uni-Core™ construction, in which the core and the base form one piece, increases reliability and conductivity as it reduces component size and cost. The leads are flush with the core, minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The C2139NL transformer can be used worldwide in set-top box RF and cable magnetic applications for cable television, satellite set-tops, terrestrial television equipment, video equipment and fiber-to-cable television termination devices. Other applications include balanced to unbalanced signal conversion and aiding frequency impedance matching.

The C2139NL has an ultra-compact surface-mount footprint of 0.120 in x 0.150 in. The operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to 70 °C with an impedance ratio of 1:1 and typical insertion loss of less than 0.5 db. It provides signal integrity in a small package for sophisticated RF applications. The component is restriction of hazardous substances compliant.

Parts are available in both tray and tape-and-reel packaging, with prices starting at $0.20 for high-volume orders. Lead-time is four to six weeks. The unit price may vary depending on configuration and shipping destination.
