May 25, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Powerstax plc (formerly Advanced Power Conversion plc, Farnborough, England) announced the its new pre-approved, configurable, multiple-output, medically approved power supply, the Powerstax MM Series, which help reduce costly safety agency approvals and shorten design time, reducing time-to-market. The MM Series provide a solution for system designers in a wide range of medical, laboratory and dental applications, including drug infusion and chemical analysis equipment.

Available in two industry-standard sizes, the Powerstax MM range provides 1,000 W, 600 W and 400 W power output, with 46,656 possible output configurations from up to 12 isolated outputs. The full user configurability of the MM Series offers a flexible and cost-effective solution for exact medical power requirements. Incorporating, universal input, Class B conducted emissions and 12 mm creepage, the MM range has low leakage current of <300 µA current with an optional ultra-low leakage version of less than 150 µA. The modular design of the Powerstax MM Series provides power outputs ranging from 1.45 V to 28 V that have individually controlled signals that offer millions of power solutions from the isolated and adjustable outputs.

The MM range has both series and parallel capability, and can be stacked for up to 2,000 W output power. Zero-load operation and dual-fused versions are also available. Each Powerstax MM unit comes complete with a three-year warranty, and are CE marked, EN60601-1, UL2601-1, IEC601-1 approved and fully compliant to EN61000-3-2.
