Magnetek Offers HP6 Power Supply Series

April 06, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Magnetek Power Electronics Group, a division of Magnetek Inc. (Chatsworth, CA), announced the release of its new HP6 multiple-output power supply series. The modular, hot-swap design supports high-availability computer and data storage applications where up-time is critical. The HP6 Series power supplies provide 600W of multiple-output regulated power in a compact design with up to five outputs, including a 5Vdc, 1A independent standby output.

The new power supply can configure up to 80A from the regulated outputs at output voltages from 0.8V to 12V. In addition, power scalability is simple, with active current sharing available on all four outputs. Multiple power supplies can be wired together for redundant N+1 applications as well as providing higher system power. The product offering includes six standard models, and additional models can be quickly assembled to meet specific output specifications.

The ultra-compact HP6 measures only 1.6in x 5in x 11.5in, producing 6.52W/in³ power density. System management and monitoring is accomplished by an I2C interface with interrupt capability. Evaluation units of the new models are available in two weeks, with production quantities available eight weeks ARO. Pricing for the HP6 Series ranges from $368 to $442 in OEM quantities.
