LTC Debuts LT1934 Micropower Buck Regulator

November 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) announced its new LT1934, a high-voltage (VIN up to 34V), micropower, step-down, switching regulator in a low-profile ThinSOT™ package. With an input-voltage range of 3.2V to 34V, the LT1934 can regulate a variety of power sources from four-cell alkaline batteries and 5V logic rails to unregulated wall transformers and lead-acid batteries. It can deliver up to 300mA of continuous output current at voltages as low as 1.25V. The LT1934 reduces quiescent current to 12µA, (<1µA in shutdown), making it suitable for automotive and standby power applications that require optimum battery life.

For applications that require lower output currents (under 70mA), Linear is also introducing the LT1934-1. It is identical to the LT1934 with the exception of a lower current limit (90mA versus 350mA). The LT1934-1's reduced current limit enables it to use slightly smaller external components in low-current applications.

Both the LT1934 and LT1934-1 are available from stock in ThinSOT packages. Pricing for both versions starts at $2.05 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
