Linear Adds Small Triple Supply Monitor for Automotive Applications

April 02, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology introduced the LTC1728H-5, a tiny, accurate triple supply voltage monitor that guarantees operation across -40 to 125°C. The LTC1728H-5 monitors 5V, 3.3V and one adjustable trip threshold set with an external resistive divider network, giving users the flexibility to monitor voltages as low as 1V. Offered in a tiny 5-lead SOT-23 package, the company claims that the LTC1728 is the smallest triple supply monitor available. Drawing only 10uA (typ) from the supplies it monitors, the LTC1728H-5 provides a low power, reliable solution for high temperature, space-limited applications.

The LTC1728 offers a tight 1.5% threshold accuracy over which reset can occur, decreasing the overall voltage margin required for reliable system operation. This, along with power supply glitch filtering, a feature shared by Linear Technology’s entire family of dual, triple, quad, hex and octal supply monitors, ensures predictable reset operation without false triggering. Whenever one of the three monitored voltages falls below its threshold, a common open-drain reset output asserts and remains low until all three supplies are in compliance for at least 200ms.

Pricing for the H-grade (-40 to 125°C) LTC1728H-5 begins at $1.70 each in 1,000 piece quantities.
