Intersil Presents MightyMUX ISL43640 IC

May 27, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced the new MightyMUX™ ISL43640 high-performance, analog 4:1, bi-directional multiplexer/demultiplexer IC, which provides R(ON) channel-to-channel matching with just 1% variance to ensure output accuracy is maintained regardless of input source. Targeted applications include high-precision equipment used for medical, communications and testing.

The ISL43640 operates from a +2V to +12V single supply (15Vmax) and is fully specified at 12V, 5V and 3.3V. The ISL43640 in a small, near-chip-scale, 16-pad, 3mm x 3mm, quad-flat no-lead (QFN) package conserves board space. A 10-lead, 3mm x 5mm MSOP package is also available. The device features ratings at 12V and 25°C, an R(on) of less than 50 Ohms, an R(on) channel-to-channel matching of 0.5 Ohms, a tight 1% deviation, a low open-switch leakage current of less than 1nA, fast switching speeds of t(on) = 25ns and t(off) = 24ns, and a charge injection of approximately 1pC.

The ISL43640 is available now. Pricing for quantities of 100 to 999 units is $0.78 each for the ISL43640IR QFN and $0.75 each for the ISL43240IU MSOP. Both packages are rated for a temperature range of –40°C to +85°C and are available on tape and reel.
