Intersil Presents Endura ISL6521 Quad Regulator IC
Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its new Endura™ ISL6521 quad regulator IC, which includes one switching regulator for up to a 20 A load, and three linear regulators that each drive 120 mA, or 3 A with external transistors. Applications for the new IC range broadly, providing power solutions for FPGAs, ASICs, POL, embedded systems, and input/output across medical, industrial, computing and telecom.
The ISL6521 monitors and precisely controls one synchronous-buck converter and three configurable linear regulators from a +5 V bias input. The synchronous-buck, pulse-width modulated (PWM) regulator provides the most power to a primary load. All four regulator outputs are adjustable between 0.8 V and 4.0 V providing ±2 percent regulation over the full temperature range. All outputs are over-current protected. The PWM controller uses the upper MOSFET’s on-resistance to monitor the current. The linear controllers monitor their respective feedback pins for under-voltage events to protect against excessive currents.
The ISL6521 is available now. The suggested resale price in 100-unit to 999-unit quantities for the ISL6521CB is $2.25 each. The ICs are available on tape and reel.
