Intersil Launches ISL6226 Endura Power Controller

September 09, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced the new Endura™ ISL6226 synchronous-buck, pulse-width modulated (PWM) and linear low-dropout (LDO) combo controller, which reduces parts count and saves board space while offering the low bill of materials. Target applications include notebook PCs, web tablets, portable data terminals, point-of-sale terminals, portable instruments, LCD-PCs and blade servers.

The ISL6226 features an output voltage of 0.9V to 93 percent of Vin, a voltage-out range of 0.8V to 3V using external MOSFETs, a voltage-out range of 0.8V to 3.8V using external NPN transistors, high efficiency over a wide load range, a hysteretic mode that preserves efficiency for light-load conditions, a combined voltage feed-forward and current-mode control, a 300kHz to 600kHz switching frequency, an output current of 3A, under-voltage protection, over-voltage protection, over-current protection, a power-good indicator, soft-start, and power-good pins.

The ISL6226 is available now. Pricing for the ISL6226CB-T on tape-and-reel is $2.20 in 1,000-unit quantities. Other quantity pricing is available upon request.
