Half Bridge Driver High Voltage Integrated Circuit with BSD Function

September 10, 2022 by Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric’s new M81777FP HVIC enables the user to build efficient and safe driver circuits with a high grade of miniaturization.

Mitsubishi Electric now offers the M81777FP High Voltage Integrated Circuit (HVIC). It is a half-bridge driver for IGBT and MOSFET power modules dedicated for 200 V AC line applications. M81777FP is suitable for IGBT and MOSFET drives for different applications like refrigerators, air-conditioners, washing machines, servo motors, and general-purpose drives considering 600 V DC-link. M81777FP HVIC is available in SOP8 package outline.

The HVIC can be controlled with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic at the HIN and LIN terminals. The control terminals HIN and LIN have input Schmitt trigger to protect the HVIC against jitter. Additional safety is provided by built-in interlock protection, that protects the converter’s half-bridge against possible arm shoot-through events. The high voltage level shifter for control of the high side switch was realized with 2nd generation divided RESURF structure. Both high voltage and low voltage sides are equipped with under-voltage protection. The new M81777FP HVIC is equipped with a BSD (bootstrap diode) function that enables inverter systems and high-voltage wirings to be designed with fewer parts. The output stage of the HVIC can drive the circuit on the high and low sides with +200 mA/-350 mA current. The new M81777FP HVIC enables the user to build efficient and safe driver circuits with a high grade of miniaturization.
