January 19, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Emerson Network Power has announced the introduction of its Astec DA4 Series wall-mount external switchers from Astec Power. The new single output devices can deliver 5.5VDC with 4 Watts of total power and 15ms typical hold up time. They feature universal input of 90-264 VAC and regulated output voltage.

These compact power supplies are designed for a wide variety of external applications requiring wall mounting including: telecommunications, networking, test and measurement, imaging and portable electronics devices such as CD/DVD players, modems and cell phones.

For loads from 0 to 0.75A (0.80A peak), the constant current, constant voltage DA4 models feature overload and short circuit protection as well as built-in EMI filtering (CISPR Class B). Designers can choose from multiple AC-plug configurations for North American, European and Asian operation.

In an ergonomic package only 2.36" (60mm) wide by 1.02" (28mm) deep by 1.57" (45.8mm) high, the models all incorporate a molded-in 2 meter cord with a 2.5mm barrel jack for the output and include a "power good" LED indicator. Designed to meet EN55082-1 electromagnetic susceptibility, the units can operate from 0°C to 50°C.

The DA4 Series switchers comply with international safety and performance standards from UL, CSA, TUV, NEMKO, CB, CE and CCC. Available now, prices start at $5 in OEM quantities.
