Emerson Network Power announced the NPS63-M, a rugged, small and efficient 12V standard power supply that supports up to 60W with convection cooling. The NPS63-M is the latest in Emerson Network Power’s growing portfolio of open frame, low power standard products which includes the recently launched NPS20-M and NPS40-M series power supplies.

With a compact 2 by 4 inch footprint and a height of just 1 inch, the NPS63-M has a high typical full-load efficiency of 87% and meets the stringent Energy Star 2.0 Efficiency Level V standard. Backed by a comprehensive set of worldwide IT equipment (ITE) and non-patient contact and non-patient critical medical safety approvals, the power supply is also ideal for use in light industrial, instrumentation and process systems as well as in low-power dental and laboratory equipment.

The 12V output capacity is adjustable by plus or minus 20%, and the power supply accepts a wide universal input voltage range of 90 to 264Vac (127 to 300Vdc). Under normal operating conditions, the NPS63-M requires less than 74W of input power and consumes less than 300Mw of power under no-load conditions. The NPS63-M can operate at full load in temperatures ranging from zero to 50 degrees Celsius and up to 80° with derating. It is comprehensively protected against overload and overvoltage conditions and delivers a demonstrated mean time between failures (MTBF) of more than 550,000 hours at full load in ambient conditions of 25 degrees Celsius. An optional enclosure kit (LPX50) is available to ensure maximum component protection.

The NPS63-M features built-in EMI filters (CISPR 22 Class B) and meets rigorous EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Level B EMC conducted noise standards. Safety approvals include UL/TUV/CSA/NEMKO 60950/60601-1, CE Mark (LVD), and CB certification. It is also fully compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) per EU directive 2002/95/EC.
