Arques Technology Unveils AQ9220 Voltage Controller

New Products Dec 14, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Arques Technology (Austin, TX) introduced its AQ9220 highly integrated, three-output voltage controller. The AQ9220 provides a dual-phase, synchronous buck switcher plus two LDO controllers, with features that simplify the design of power supplies for systems demanding high performance, high density and low cost.

The dual-phase, synchronous buck controller features a five-bit VID interface with adjustable step and offset voltages. Power loss and noise are minimized by operating the PWMs 180° out-of-phase. Constant on-time regulation simplifies loop compensation and provides excellent transient response. Loss-less inductor current sensing and over-current protection maximizes efficiency. Active phase current sharing with adjustable ratio allows for different voltage sources for each phase, allowing distributed current demand among the available sources.

The device is designed for a wide range of compact, high-performance applications such as AGP 3D graphics cards, personal computers and VRM supplies. Available now, the AQ9220 is packaged in either a MLP-40 or LQFP-44 package. Pricing is $1.20 for 1,000-unit quantities. Evaluation boards available.
