Absopulse Unveils HVC2k AC-DC Power Supply

June 07, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) unveiled its new HVC2k ac-dc power supply for high-voltage applications that employs high-frequency conversion technology to deliver 85 Vdc, 125 Vdc, 136 Vdc, 250 Vdc, 270 Vdc or 300 Vdc from a 115 Vac/230 Vac input. The 2,000 W unit can be configured for between one and three regulated outputs. A built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel connection to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. This feature also makes the unit suitable for battery-charging applications.

The HVC2k is constructed in a 5.3 in x 7.5 in x 15.5 in chassis. The unit is fan-cooled and rated for operation over a 0 °C to 50 °C temperature range at full power without de-rating, with extended temperature ranges available as an option. Conformal coating and ruggedizing are also available for operation in extreme environments. The power supply features high efficiency, low output noise and full electronic protection. It is designed to meet international safety approval requirements, including IEC950, CSA22-2-950 and UL1950. It also meets EN55022 Class A EMI emissions regulations as a minimum.

Absopulse also offers a range of power supplies with output voltages as high as 400 Vdc. Custom versions for other voltages are also available. The HVC2k is priced at $2,766 for quantities of one to four.
