Absopulse Releases 300W, Universal Input, Dual Output AC-DC Power Supply

November 27, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. announced its MIW 302 Series – a dual-output unit that uses high frequency conversion topology to generate 300W. The design consists of two completely independent converter stages to provide 150W on each output. The outputs are floating and can be connected in series to deliver high output voltage (100 – 250Vdc), or in parallel to increase the output current. Both outputs are highly regulated and independently adjustable. A built-in redundancy diode allows for the outputs to be connected in parallel for 1+1 redundancy, or to handle high peak load currents.

The MIW 302 is filtered on the input and output to meet EN55022 Curve B. It is also designed to meet EN 60950 and corresponding UL and CSA standards. This rugged converter is convection and conduction cooled and performs to full specification at temperatures from 0 to 50°C. Options include a Form C output fail alarm, a dc-input range of 105 to 350Vdc, a wide range of output configurations and conformal coating for operation in harsh environments. Highly ruggedized versions are also available.

The chassis-mount design is said to feature low component count and high efficiency. The use of what is described as high quality components and rigorous quality control results in an MTBF exceeding 100,000 hours, with a demonstrated MTBF (based on the MIW series) of one million hours at normal operating temperatures.

The MIW 302 is priced at US$ 271 in the 100+ quantity range.
