1005-Size Multi-Layer Power Inductor for IoT

New Products Aug 11, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

FDK Corporation has developed the MIPSCZ1005 series multi-layer power inductor (1.0mm x 0.5mm x 0.75mm high max) which realizes downsizing, low loss characteristics and high dc bias characteristics. The MIPSCZ1005 is suitable for the power supply circuits of mobile devices such as mobile phones, power supply module, wearable and Internet-of-things (IoT) devices.

Products in the new family include: MIPSCZ1005DR47, inductance at 1MHz 0.47μH, dc resistance 0.32Ω, rated current 0.65A; MIPSCZ1005D1R0, inductance at 1MHz 1.0μH, dc resistance 0.5Ω, rated current 0.55A; and MIPSCZ1005D2R2, inductance at 1MHz 2.2μH, dc resistance 0.9Ω, rated current 0.45A.

Mobile devices need the higher electric consumption for the corresponding to the high-performance and the high-speed tele-communication. In addition, the number of power inductor used in power supply circuit for mobile devices continued to increase with the high and multiple functionality. Therefore, power inductors are required to be high electric performance (low loss characteristics, high dc bias characteristics, etc.) and downsizing.

To meet these requirements, FDK has successfully developed the multi-layer power inductor of MIPSCZ1005 series, which are 40% smaller than conventional model of MIPSZ1608D series keeping the equal level for low loss characteristics and DC bias characteristics by adopting our original “ferrite material technology”, “magnetic circuit design technology” and “high precision printing and lamination technology” cultivated by multi-layer inductors for high frequency devices.
