NiSource Inc. (Merrillville, IN) reported that Vice Chairman Stephen Adik will be retiring this year, effective December 31, 2003. Adik joined NiSource predecessor Northern Indiana Public Service Company in 1987 as vice president and general manager of the Corporate Support Group. Prior to becoming vice chairman, he was senior executive vice president and chief financial officer.
"Although we respect Steve's decision to retire, we will miss his integrity, dedication, leadership, strategic insight and knowledge of the business," said Gary Neale, chairman, president and chief executive officer of NiSource. "In the past 16 years, as a senior member of the management team at NiSource, Steve has played a key role in the growth and diversification of NiSource into a major regional gas and electric company. We are pleased that Steve has agreed to remain a member of the NiSource Board of Directors, where we will continue to have the benefit of his almost 40 years of energy industry experience."
