Ineltro AG To Distribute Solicore Flexion® Batteries For Medical & RFID Applications In Europe

March 02, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Solicore announced that it has entered into an agreement with Ineltro AG, a Swiss distributor of electronic components, power solutions and embedded computers, to supply Solicore’s ultra-thin Flexion® batteries throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Solicore claims that this strategic partnership enables it to expand its presence within Europe by leveraging Ineltro’s expert knowledge of the electronic manufacturing service (EMS) market and high-tech original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in the area.

While Solicore states that it has solidified its position as the key supplier of power solutions for European smart card and bankcard manufacturers, partnering with Ineltro is said to allow the company to penetrate the RFID and medical markets in Europe. It is claimed that Ineltro can create opportunities for Solicore to distribute its Flexion batteries for use in the medical industry for patient tracking and pharmaceutical uses, and in RFID applications such as powered tags, secure access controls and supply chain tracking. It is believed that Ineltro has cultivated the necessary channels to best position Flexion batteries within their network of customers through relationships with power solution providers like Duracell, Sanyo and Tadiran.

"One of our clients came to us requesting the Flexion batteries for an RFID application," said Thomas Bollhalder, Product Manager for Batteries at Ineltro. "Flexion batteries’ unique flexibility and ultra-thin shape make it the ideal complement to our product portfolio. We are extremely excited to be able to distribute Solicore’s products and look forward to a long partnership."

Flexion batteries are claimed to be the thinnest, most flexible batteries in Ineltro’s portfolio, enabling them to fill the power solution gap created by customer demand.

"Our relationship with Ineltro marks an opportunity for us to begin to grow in different directions as we enter into the European medical and RFID markets," stated Robert Kovach, International Sales Manager at Solicore. "Acceptance of our product in the kind of diverse high-tech market Switzerland offers reaffirms our desire to expand and explore new areas with Flexion batteries."
