Grill, Boil, Cook, and Charge with the BioLite CampStove

December 18, 2013 by Power Pulse1595211359

The BioLite CampStove cooks meals with nothing but the twigs collected by the user, eliminating the need for heavy, expensive and polluting petroleum gas. The stove is quick to light, fast to boil and easy to use. The heat from the fire generates electricity via a thermoelectric generator to power a fan creating airflow for improved combustion and faster cooking. Surplus electricity is sent to the USB port for charging devices like mobile phones and LED lights.

Packed Size of the stove is 8.25 inches high and 5 inches wide, it weighs 33 ounces (935g) and cana use any renewable biomass for fuel such as twigs, pinecones, wood pellets, and so on. The peak fire output is 3.4kW on ‘lo’ and 5.5kW on ‘hi’ and the USB power port produces a continuous output of 2W at 5Vdc with a peak capability of 4W. A typical charging time for an iPhone 4S would be 20 minutes to provide about 60 minutes of talk time. Charging times vary by device and strength of the fire. It takes about 4.5 minutes to boil 1 liter of water, depending on the strength of fire. And it takes about 1.6 ounces (46g) of wood to boil a liter of water

The CampStove isn't just for camping; it's great to have on hand when the power goes out in a storm or other natural disasters. You'll be able to cook and keep electronics charged while power lines are down. Almost half the human population still cooks or heats their homes with smoky open fires. The BioLite HomeStove cuts fuel use in half and reduces emissions 95 percent. As a bonus, wasted heat is converted into electricity to charge cell phones and power LED lights. BioLite plans to distribute a million HomeStoves in low-income countries in the next five years.
