Electrotek Chosen for Performance Monitoring System

June 25, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Electrotek Concepts (Arlington, VA), part of the WPT Inc. (Edison, NJ) family of companies, has been selected by the Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB, Knoxville, TN) to implement a system for continuous substation performance monitoring and power-quality benchmarking. Under the terms of the purchase, KUB is obtaining equipment, software, and installation and training support from Electrotek.

The monitoring system is based on the Signature System; a web-based power monitoring and control system developed by Electrotek and its sister company, Dranetz-BMI, in cooperation with the Electric Power Research Institute (Palo Alto, CA) and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Electrotek will work with KUB to install monitoring equipment at four KUB substations, which will be accessible via an internal network.
