Designing with GaN and SiC Power Devices

August 26, 2015 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced devices and materials will be one of the key focuses at the 2015 Darnell's Energy Summit (DES '15). Delegates will learn about the latest practical developments and design techniques. In the morning Plenary session, delegates will hear Alex Lidow, CEO, Efficient Power Conversion Corporation talk about "The GaN Effect – How GaN is Changing the Way We Live." Continuing the presentation of actionable and practical technical information, the first afternoon at DES '15 will include a "Devices and Materials" Roundtable Session.

Papers to be presented during the Roundtable Session will include: “Manufacturability and Reliability of High Voltage GaN HEMTs,” Primit Parikh, CEO, Transphorm; “Practical Layout Techniques to Fully Extract the Benefits of Gallium Nitride Power Transistors,” Ivan Chan, Field Applications Engineer, Efficient Power Conversion; “Comparing Enhancement-Mode and Cascode GaN in Hard- and Soft-Switching Applications,” Wenduo Liu, Infineon; and “New System Architectures for the Smart Energy Grid Enabled by a New Generation of SiC-based High-Voltage Devices,” Daniel Fernandez, CTO, Inael.

Practical, actionable technical information will continue to be the focus throughout DES ’15. Session on Day Two will include: Innovative Concepts in Power Conversion, Power System Design, Inverters and battery Chargers, Digital Power, High-Wattage Power Conversion, Trends in Power Conversion, and more.

Devices, materials, and practical converter design techniques are only a few of the leading-edge technologies to be featured at DES ’15. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the latest-developments in digital power, software-defined power systems, dc microgrids, energy harvesting, energy storage, and more. You will find the complete program here. Registration is open here.
