AmericanDG Supplies Power to Healthcare Facility

January 20, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

AmericanDG (Waltham, MA) announced that it has signed an agreement with Greenpark Care Center in Brooklyn, NY, to supply energy for the 400-bed, long-term, healthcare facility through a distributed generation (DG) power system. Under the terms of the agreement, Greenpark will receive a substantial portion of its electricity and hot water directly from an on-site, 150kW cogeneration facility that will be installed and operated by AmericanDG.

"Our 30-year-old facility has been in dire need of a new energy solution," said Brian Glattstein, president of Greenpark Care Center. "And we are under tremendous pressure to keep our costs down in light of cuts in medical spending. So, a solution that promises to improve our energy efficiency and reduce our energy costs - with someone else taking full responsibility for maintaining and servicing the equipment - is obviously very appealing to us."
