Xantrex Introduces Fully Programmable Triple Output, 222W Bench Top Power Supply
Xantrex Technology Inc. announced the launch of the model XBT 32-3FTP, a 222W linear programmable power supply for laboratory and low power automated test equipment (ATE) applications.
The XBT is said to provide higher power and more flexibility than conventional bench top supplies typically provide. Channels 1 and 2 are each programmable for 0-32 V/0-3A. The third output is fully programmable 0-15V/0-5A, up to a maximum of 30W. In addition, CH 1 and CH 2 can be configured for tracking, parallel or series operation to provide, in effect, the equivalent of 6 different power supplies.
The XBT’s 16-bit programming feature enables high-resolution setting and readback of voltage (1mV) and current (100µA). It is said to be easy to use for both manual operation and computer control. With direct keypad entry and digital encoder knob control, users can pick their preferred method of control depending on the application or user preference. For computer control, USB and RS-232 are standard while IEEE488.2/GPIB and Ethernet are optional.
To assure the safety of devices under test, the XBT includes a voltage/current preview feature before outputs are energized. Over-voltage and over-current protection is also programmed into each channel. Advanced engineering features include storage of up to 100 voltage and current setups and a 100-hour timer.
"We have spent a lot of time listening to customers and studying how power supplies are used. This research has resulted in a power supply which appeals to the many varied uses of a bench supply," said Joe Budano, Xantrex President & General Manager, Programmable Power. "The small form factor and computer interfaces also make it easy for our ATE users to integrate the XBT into a system."
