Vishay Presents TFBS4711 Infrared Transceiver

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new TFBS4711 serial infrared (SIR) transceiver for short-distance, wireless communication. The TFBS4711 transceiver measures 1.9mm x 3.1mm x 6.0mm, a reduction in length of more than 15% compared with other SIR transceivers on the market. With its 6mm length and six-pin interface, the TFBS4711 allows designers to reduce the PCB area required for infrared transceivers and reduce the size of the ambient light-filtering window. Smaller window requirements give packaging engineers tremendous flexibility. The 1.9mm height allows the transceiver to be placed on either side of the circuit board.

Engineering samples of the TFBS4711 are available now. Pricing for quantities greater than 500,000 units is expected to be below $0.90.
