Tripp Lite Introduces 8kVA SmartOnline UPS Systems With Corded Input

May 20, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Tripp Lite has introduced two new 8kVA SmartOnline™ Hot-Swappable Modular UPS Systems (models: SU8000RT3UN50 and SU8000RT3UN50TF). The new models include a convenient corded input that is said to eliminate the need for an electrician to install the UPS via hardwire connection. Model SU8000RT3UN50 features 200 to 240V input/output and model SU8000RT3UN50TF includes a transformer module for additional 120V output. Both models include a 50A Hubbell twist-lock plug and heavy-duty input power cord.

"The new UPS systems provide exceptional ease of deployment," said Rich Feldhaus, Tripp Lite Product Specialist. "The high-amperage cord and 50A plug allow sites to be prepared in advance of UPS project funding so that once acquired, the UPS systems can be installed quickly by IT/network staff. Unique among competing hardwired systems at the 8-10kVA power level, these systems are otherwise identical to our existing 8kVA Hot-Swappable Modular UPS Systems, with the same high–availability design. Customers who want to streamline installation should specify and install the 50A receptacle."

The company claims that the SmartOnline Hot-Swappable Modular UPS Systems have been designed from the ground up for the needs of enterprise business customers. Tripp Lite’s hot-swappable design is said to eliminate power-related downtime and ensures maximum power availability. End users can perform all potential UPS maintenance – including complete power module exchange – without powering down connected equipment. Additional features include expandable runtime, flexible outlet configurations, remote management capability and N+1 configurability for efficient fault tolerance.
