TDI Transistor Devices Announces the Gemini Power System

June 14, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

The telecommunications power systems division of TDI Transistor Devices Inc. (TDI, Hackettsown, NJ) announced its new Gemini dc power system that is rated for 2,500A to 15,000A. The design is suitable for many high-current -48V telecommunications applications. The power bays feature hot-bus switch-mode modular rectifiers rated at -48V at 125A with power-factor correction. The power bay can be configured for seven rectifier shelves and 1 to 21 rectifiers. AC distribution boxes are configured for single- or three-phase inputs.

Each power and distribution bay on the Gemini power system has a footprint of 20in x 20in. An internal bus marries the power bays to each other and to the power distribution bays. The distribution bay features 600A breakouts, 100A to 600A circuit breakers or 1A to 100A circuit-breaker positions. The bay also contains a bus meter and alarm panel, and a power plant manager. Additional power bays and power-distribution systems can be added via hot-bus at any time to create between 2,500A and 15,000A power systems.
