Power-One Launches 1200W 12V Front-End Supply for 48Vdc Computer & Office Equipment Markets

New Products Feb 25, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One, Inc. announced the availability of its SFD1200-12BG 1200W front-end dc-dc power supply. This product provides a 12Vdc, 99.2A maximum rated output and features efficiencies up to 91% from a -48Vdc input. The SFD1200-12BG can be used in data centers, servers, and storage equipment, providing them with reliable power at high efficiency.

Featuring a slim and industry standard 3.07" (78mm) width, the SFD1200-12BG minimizes the use of precious space inside the customer product, and maximizes panel area for I/O and user interface. For example, this front-end fits comfortably in a low-profile (1.57", 40mm height) 1U chassis with 11.4" (290mm) depth to support use in blade servers.

Additional features include a standby 3.3V @ 3 A output, as well as I²C monitoring and control. Protections include: output overvoltage, output overcurrent, and overtemperature. The SFD1200-12BG meets international safety requirements for ITE and is CE marked to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). Regulatory agency approvals are pending and include UL 60950-1/CSA 60950-1 (cCSAus) and EN 60950-1 (TÜV).

The SFD1200-12BG may be used together with the ac input SFP1050-12 to provide a strategy for dual ac or dc input for telecom and datacom equipment. Customers may also migrate to lower-power, lower-cost products such as the SFD550 (dc in, 550W out) and SFP650 (ac in, 650W out) to optimize power supplies for efficiency and cost, without changing their chassis work.
