Microchip Technology Debuts TC1016 LDO Regulator

November 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Microchip Technology Inc. (Chandler, AZ) announced the release of its new 80mA low dropout (LDO) regulator in a space-saving SC-70 package. Designated the TC1016, the device offers low dropout voltage (200mV at 80mA) and low supply current (60µA), extending battery life and improving system efficiency.

Features include high output-voltage accuracy (2.5 percent maximum), a shutdown mode to reduce power consumption to as low as 0.05µA, and a tiny package and small external ceramic capacitors to save board space and minimize component cost.

The devices are suitable for use in cellular phones, PDAs, pagers, laptops, CO2 detectors, Flash modules, PCMCIA cards, bar code scanners, cameras, MP3 players, and a number of other small-size, battery-powered applications.
