Maxim Presents MAX1982/MAX1983 LDO Regulators

September 24, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Maxim Integrated Products Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) introduced the MAX1982/MAX1983 low-voltage, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators with an external 5V bias supply input that drives the internal n-channel pass transistor, making the devices suitable for notebook computers, PDAs and cell phones.

The MAX1982 delivers 1.2V at 300mA from an input voltage of 1.5V to 5.5V. The MAX1983 delivers an adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 2V. The MAX1982/MAX1983 include current limit and thermal shutdown that protect the regulator in the event of a fault condition.

The MAX1982/MAX1983 are available in six-pin, SOT23 packages. All devices are screened for the extended temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C. Prices start at $0.74 for 1,000-piece quantities, on up.
