Lucent Power Systems Intros Austin Series of SMT DC/DC Power Modules

May 02, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Lucent Power Systems (Mesquite, TX) recently unveiled its Austin Series non-isolated SMT dc/dc power modules. Incorporating the topology, high-frequency switching, components, materials and packaging innovations of Lucent's Titania Series, the compact modules measure 1.765 x 0.51 x 0.215 and weigh less than 5 grams.

Nine versions of the modules are available, providing 1.5, 1.8 and 2.5Vdc outputs from a 3-3.6Vdc input, and 1.5, 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3Vdc outputs from a 4.5-5.5Vdc input. Maximum output current for all of the models is 5A. Typical efficiency is 71 to 85 percent, depending on the model. Features include an output-enable/output-voltage adjustment pin, overcurrent foldback protection and +/-5 percent trim with a single resistor.

The Austin Series is priced from $16.50 each in OEM quantities.
