New Products Mar 04, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc. has introduced a new line of medical-grade power strips for use in patient care areas of health care facilities. Designed to supply power to medical equipment within the most critical areas of a health care facility, the devices are UL 60601-1, UL 60950-1 and UL 1363A compliant for the highest level of safety. The line also features surge-protective models that conform to UL 1449 third edition requirements.

Leviton’s new line of medical grade power strips are tested to U.S., Canadian and Mexican safety standards, satisfying the electrical safety requirements specified in NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code and NEC Article 517: Healthcare Facilities. This enables health care facility managers to ensure full compliance with these safety regulations.

Additional safety features include locking safety covers to prevent accidental contact with unused outlets, indicator lights to provide visual confirmation of power and surge protection, and a switchless design to prevent accidental disruption of power.

Leviton’s medical grade power strips are available in a number of configurations to fit nearly any application, including two, four or six hospital grade outlets; seven or 15 inch supply cord lengths with hospital grade attachment plugs; and with or without surge protection.
