Intersil Announces New EL7585A DC-DC Converter

September 06, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced a new high-efficiency, four-channel, dc-dc converter, the EL7585A, for use in large thin-film-transistor, liquid-crystal display (TFT-LCD) applications such as televisions and desktop monitors. The EL7585A features a large integrated 3.5 A field-effect transistor (FET), which provides high output power in large display panels.

The EL7585A features a pulse-width modulation (PWM) boost converter with 3 V to 5 V input capability, and up to 16 V output. The integrated FET is available at 3.5 A for higher output power in larger panels. A pair of low dropout (LDO) controllers provides regulation for the gate driver, and supplies up to 36 V for the positive supply and down to -20 V for the negative supply. A third LDO controller is used to provide a regulated logic supply voltage. The EL7585A also includes integrated power supply sequencing and is fully fault-protected to protect the panel without external components.

The EL7585A is available now in a lead-free, 20-pin QFN package, and is priced at $1.33 in 1,000-unit quantities.
